Israeli television had already ceased broadcasting in the afternoon. "Citizens of Israel: with sorrow, terror and grief, like nothing that ever was or ever will be, we are forced to surrender to our Arab enemies. This evening I submitted the request for surrender through and by the government of the United States and we hope that the acts of looting, robbery, raping and murder of Israeli citizens will cease immediately. We are pinning our hopes on the Creator. I instructed the Chief of Staff to lay down all of our weapons. The war has reached our threshold, Tel-Aviv. Wherever the murderous enemy columns of tanks passed, they left only destruction, death and bereavement in their wake Citizens of Israel, the government of Israel, the Israeli Knesset and Israeli army bow their heads with Israel on this terrible day and admit: we have sinned, we have committed a crime against the nation. We are guilty of not having enough strength against our Arab enemies. In the recent days of the invasion of our territory by the Arab armies, we dropped several neutron bombs on the Golan Heights in order to halt the armies of our calamity. Despite the fact that many of our enemies were destroyed, the forces which overrode us came from other directions: from Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, like an unstoppable flood and within several hours, they had passed through towards the Galilee, the Bet She'an Valley and thence to the coastal plains. Now these forces are making their way towards Tel-Aviv and there is nobody left to stop them. We are sorry that we did not have the courage to use our last weapon. We were unable to use nuclear weapons against our enemies, knowing that many of our people would die along with our foes and many more would be dreadfully maimed for the rest of their lives. On this day, when we lower the flag, we must remember that our people have survived for 4000 years, 2000 of them in exile. The day will come and the flag of Israel will once again wave proudly from the flagpole, the day will come and the walls of silence will collapse from the exultations of our children." At the end of his speech, Avraham Durk could not restrain himself, and broke down in tears on live radio. Afterwards, in a trembling voice, he appealed to the citizens of Israel who still heard the Voice of Israel in its final hours and asked them to read psalms in order to invoke the mercy of the Lord. All the while, his speech was accompanied by the thunder of distant cannons. Later that same night, it became known that Avraham Durk and many of the members of his government committed suicide by consuming poison. The columns of the Arab tanks that suddenly appeared on the streets of Tel-Aviv with a frightful noise invaded the Israeli Pentagon, the Kirya, and there, inside the Ministry of Defense, they found the corpses of twelve Ministers of the Government of Israel and the Prime Minister. IDF officers and commanders mysteriously disappeared and were swallowed into the rest of the conquered population. About half an hour after Palestinian forces entered the Kirya, a series of huge explosions was heard, and all of the buildings in the camp of the General Staff were completely destroyed, destroying along with them buildings in the surrounding area, in a perimeter of over 100 meters. The adjacent IBM building, the Tel-Aviv District and Magistrates Courts, the Kirya Tower - all disappeared within seconds in a colossal din, burying hundreds of exultant Arab soldiers in a mass grave, together with the last government of Israel.
